Two of our website clients were recently featured on the National level. Licorice International was featured in Food Network Magazine (December 2009 issue) on page 188. The article titled "One and Only" showcased extreme specialty stores throughout the country. Ebbeka Design assisted with the design revamp and ongoing graphic support for their popular online store last year. Learn more about Licorice International at https://www.licoriceinternational.com.

Another Ebbeka client, Vahallan Papers, was honored to be asked to be involved in a project designed by Candace Olsen for the ever popular HGTV show Divine Design. LSO Patron Comments Inspire New LSO Campaign

amazing, uplifting, rewarding, joyful, inspiring, exhilarating, refreshing, powerful, surprising, extraordinary

Last year, Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra asked patrons to describe their LSO experience, and they responded eloquently. Their exact words are reflected in the new advertising campaign that Ebbeka Design created for the 2009-2010 season.

"There is magic involved with attending a live performance", said Barbara Zach, LSO's executive director. "It can’t be replicated in your living room in your car or while working out with your headphones on. The art form of live symphonic music uniquely expresses community, and Lincoln is fortunate to have an incredible community of musicians that comes together to form Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra."

We couldn't agree more. See the campaign on billboards throughout Lincoln, print and online advertising, email marketing, and their season program. Order season tickets at www.lincolnsymphony.com.

Giving Non-Profits a Voice on the Web

To some non-profits, a professional looking website can sometimes feel like a dream that is out of reach. But when Friends of Opera-University of Nebraska Lincoln approached us about helping out with their rebranding process, we found a way to make that dream a reality.

Utilizing existing materials like a newsletter masthead or brochure can be a great launching point to extend your brand to the internet. And working with a company like Ebbeka Design that can do it all sure has its advantages. "When we started the design concept for the Friends of Opera website, we already had the look and feel worked out on other pieces," said lead designer Matt Kruse. "Extending the existing design concepts for their newsletter masthead and membership brochures and adapting them for the web was so natural. The entire process did not take long at all."

The Friends of Opera website is a landing page for all things opera in Lincoln and Omaha, specifically the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Opera Department. Included on the site is information about how to join, how to give, past newsletters, and a schedule of where you can experience opera. To learn more, visit http://www.friendsofopera.org.

Leon's Launches Their New Location - on the Web!

Leon's Gourmet Grocer of Lincoln is all about the food, and now with the help of Ebbeka Design, leonsgourmetgrocer.com provides an online presence for this unique neighborhood gourmet grocer. The new website is a great introduction to the people and products that Leon's is known for.

"The website was born out of a need to let customers have a sneak peek inside Leon's and find out what it's all about before their visit," said Amy Ebbeka, creative director on the project. "The site has been optimized so that if someone is looking for a specific type of product in the area, for example, "Fine Olive Oils" or "Aged Vinegars", Leon's site is indexed for those search terms and registered with the most popular search engines. We feel this is an important part of Leon's overall marketing and branding and details like this shouldn't be overlooked."

Leon's Gourmet Grocer has been serving the needs of the Lincoln community since 1933 and boasts one of the best meat departments in the area. They also focus on bringing unique gourmet ingredients to customers as well as the daily staples, which makes for a unique and enjoyable shopping experience.

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra Makes National News

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra recently made national news in an article published in the January-February issue of SYMPHONY Magazine, the bi-monthly publication of the American Symphony Orchestra League.

Writer Peter Panepento was researching an article entitled, "Who We Are,” focusing on orchestras that have re-branded over the past year. LSO’s innovative name change, new logo, long-range strategic planning, free community concert, and significant increase in subscription sales caught his attention. As a result, LSO is one of a few orchestras across the nation profiled in the article.

“This article is so timely because it highlights a truth that orchestras across the country are facing: the need to communicate a consistent message that connects with our home community. As an orchestra, we need to be interwoven into the fabric of the entire community, instead of focusing on being an elite club. It’s very exciting to see that other orchestras are inspired by the work that we have done here over the past two years,” said Barbara Zach, LSO executive director.

Included in the article is a photograph of LSO at the free community concert on July 4 and an image and description of LSO’s new logo, which was designed by Amy Ebbeka of Ebbeka Design. The complete article is available on the LSO Web site. Founded in 1927, Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra has a mission to enrich, educate and entertain current and potential audiences through the performance and advancement of symphonic music.

The American Symphony Orchestra League provides leadership and service to American orchestras while communicating to the public the value and importance of orchestras and the music they perform. Ebbeka Relocates to New Office in Central Lincoln

Please visit us at our new location at 2748 South Street! Our new location is easier to find, which is due in part to the large sign right on South Street, and a large sign above the office itself. When you add this to the convenient location, comfortable neighborhood, and friendly staff, visiting Ebbeka Design is a pleasant experience. Ebbeka Designs Graphics for Museum Exhibit

Bizarre Beasts - Past and Present, a travelling museum exhibit created by nationally renoun sculptor, Gary Staab, opened to rave reviews on June 5th at the Hastings Museum of Natural and Cultural History in Hastings, Nebraska. All the graphics included in the exhibit - banners, displays, panels - were created by Ebbeka Design in tandem with friend and colleague, Ingrid Sepahpur.

"The project was a huge undertaking but was very exciting and fun to work on. Gary's prehistoric sculptures are amazing and I wanted the graphics to enhance the sculptural pieces without overwhelming the viewer," Amy commented.

The project will be on display in Hastings until August 20th, 2006. From there, it will travel to the National Geographic Museum in Washington, DC. For more information about Bizarre Beasts - Past and Present, visit the Hastings Museum at www.hastingsmuseum.org or Staab Studios at www.staabstudios.com.

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra Presents New Logo

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra has partnered with Amy Ebbeka of Ebbeka Design to create a new logo in conjunction with the announcement of its upcoming 80th season in 2006-07.

The logo, designed to be classic, inviting and ageless, features the script monogram “LSO” in purple with a musical staff in the background. Following the logo is the text, “Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, Edward Polochick, Music Director.” The new logo continues the transformation of the orchestra, which last year changed its name from The Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, to Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, to reflect its commitment to serving the community.

“I wanted to create an icon that would blend rich tradition with modern innovation. I felt the logo should be timeless in nature and inviting to all. Seeing the symphony is a transforming experience and I wanted the logo to depict that feeling,” according to Amy Ebbeka, of Ebbeka Design.

“We believe that Amy Ebbeka has a true sense of the mission of Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, where we’ve been and where we’re going. The logo, in addition to our branding strategy, will help us strengthen our position as a vital arts organization and a community asset,” according to Barbara Zach, LSO executive director.

“LSO feels extremely fortunate to be working with Ebbeka Design, as we move together in one direction to meet our future goals, which is to expand our audience and strengthen our organization,” Zach said.
